Ben's Back at Badminton!

We ♥ Ben Hobday's reaction as he's accepted into next weeks' Badminton Horse Trials (5th-8th May) from the waiting list with Mulrys Error.

This is the best news for Ben as he continues his comeback from being diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma at the end of June last year, and underwent treatment at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle. Having announced that he was in remission back in November, Ben was back in his first competition since his battle with cancer in March at The Lincolnshire Horse Trials. #fromhospitaltobadminton

There is just one rider, Jean Teulere (FRA) left on the waiting list - Horses are accepted from the waiting list to replace those who withdraw until 2pm on Sunday (1 May) - See the 2016 Entries List

William Fox-Pitt to miss Badminton

William Fox-Pitt is withdrawing Parklane Hawk from Badminton Horse Trials.

“After the disappointment of our performance at Weston Park I have decided that we have run out of time for Badminton." said William.  "It is obviously a shame not to be heading back but you have to have the right preparation for a competition like this.  Parklane Hawk has got the whole autumn to look forward to.

"I am competing this weekend at Bicton, and my next big target is the first leg of Event Rider Masters at Dodson & Horrell Chatsworth Horse Trials. “

Hugh Thomas, Director, Badminton Horse Trials commented, “We are naturally sorry that the reigning champion is not returning to Badminton.  But we are delighted that William is in such good health and wish him the best of luck for a successful rest of the season.”

William won the Badminton title last year aboard Chilli Morning.

The lure of Kentucky is no longer, as Oliver Townend withdraws his horse Black Tie II from The Rolex CCI4* (24th April - 1st May).

Black Tie remains an entry to Badminton and may still run. Oliver is keeping his options open by entering 3 horses - Armada, and Dromgurrihy Blue also to the Mitsubishi Horse Trials which are just a week later than Kentucky.

Riders at Badminton can start on 2 horses only - Oliver will decide on which 2 to start nearer the time, when the ground conditions are evident. Great to have the choice!

The Badminton Horse Trials 2016 entries list shows that GB riders Izzy Taylor and Pippa Funnell along with Irish rider Michael Ryan also have 3 horses accepted.

GB will be represented by just 3 riders now at Kentucky - Panda Christie and Little Owl, and US based Brits James Alliston with Parker and Philippa Humphreys on Sir Donovan.
