A group of men worked to corral a horse that was running free in the Redding area of California on Monday as the Carr Fire burned nearby.

At first they managed to get a hold of her and bring her to the side of the road, but then the horse took off running again.

An undisclosed number of horses have been evacuated due to the wildfire that has burned 98,000 acres, killed six people and is 20 percent contained in two California counties.

According to CALFIRE, the Carr Fire began July 23 when a motor vehicle malfunctioned and caught fire along a roadside in Shasta County. Dry conditions, shifting winds, and hot temperatures have fueled the blaze.
